As-of stamp: November 2, 2026. BBB complaint counts below were re-checked live on the BBB profile on November 2, 2026. Other figures were checked against the source linked for that figure on October 25, 2026. BBB counts move. Do not treat a count in this sample as current after November 2, 2026.
This is a report of the public record for this installer. It quotes and counts public records, with sources. It makes no recommendation for or against this installer. It does not rank or grade installers. Read the counts, the quotes, and the source documents, and decide for yourself.

4,052 complaints in the last 3 years.
1,280 complaints in the last 12 months.
This profile includes complaints for Sunrun Inc.'s headquarters and its corporate-owned locations, per the BBB profile summary. This sample shows counts only. It does not turn counts into a rate, and it does not compare counts to another installer.
Source: Better Business Bureau, Sunrun Inc. customer complaints summary, re-checked live November 2, 2026. The 3-year count was unchanged from October 25, 2026. The 12-month count moved from 1,275 to 1,280.
The two excerpts below are from BBB complaints shown on the BBB profile. They are themes, not a full complaint census. A theme excerpt is not proof that every customer had the same experience.
I experienced repeated service failures from Sunrun regarding a ground fault issue with my solar inverter. Over a period of about six months, Sunrun canceled or rescheduled eight repair appointments, including at least one no-show.
Business response shown on the same BBB page, dated September 16, 2026: "A case manager has reached out to the customer to discuss their concerns."
I was never clearly told. The contract locks me in for 25 full years.
Plain English note, separate from the quote: the full complaint describes a 25-year lease or power purchase agreement with a monthly amount that increases each year, and says the salesperson did not clearly explain those terms. This sample quotes the short passage above only. Read the full BBB complaint before relying on the theme.
These numbers are taken from Sunrun's own state contractor license information page, retrieved October 25, 2026. They are not, in this sample, a state board verification. Verify the number for your state with the state board before signing.

Case: State of Arizona v. Sunrun Inc. and Vivint Solar Inc., Maricopa County Superior Court, Case No. CV2025-017541.
Stipulated Consent Agreement filed May 22, 2025. The Arizona Attorney General's page states the settlement provides eligible consumers with options to obtain restitution, repairs, and/or service contract modification from Sunrun.
Terms in the agreement itself, paragraphs 40 to 42: $600,000 in civil penalties to the State, $50,000 in attorney's fees and costs to the State, and $600,000 in total consumer restitution payments to Arizona consumers, as described in the agreement.
Denial and no-admission language, from the agreement: the defendants deny the allegations, and the agreement states it is not an admission or acknowledgment of guilt, wrongdoing, violation, or sanction, and is not to be construed as such.
Alleged period and statute, from the agreement: the State asserts the defendants violated the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act by marketing, advertising, selling and/or leasing solar products and services throughout Arizona from approximately 2009 to 2023. The defendants deny that assertion.

A Connecticut settlement involving Sunrun was announced October 23, 2026, as reported in secondary coverage of the Attorney General's announcement. This sample does not publish a Connecticut dollar figure or settlement term, because the Connecticut Attorney General's own announcement page was not retrieved as a primary source for this sample. That omission is deliberate. An unverified figure stays out, even when secondary coverage repeats it.
No bankruptcy filing, ceased-operations filing, or license lapse for Sunrun Inc. is stated in this sample, because no such filing was verified from a court filing or official record for this sample.
That is not a finding that Sunrun is solvent, stable, or safe. It means only that this sample contains no verified failure signal. A full dossier checks filings and reporting for the installer named, and states what was found and what was not found.
Test coverage is California, Texas, Florida, and Arizona. This sample uses a California address, a Texas complaint theme, a Florida license number as published, and an Arizona court agreement. States outside the test coverage list are not covered in this test. If you name an installer in an uncovered state, the dossier will say the state is not yet covered. It will not estimate.
It does not say whether Sunrun is a good or bad choice for you. It does not cover installer pricing, system design, panel brands, loan terms beyond what a complaint quoted, or the condition of any individual system. It does not cover installers with no public record, except to state that no record was found in the sources checked.
